Work Experience
I have a whole hell of a lot of experience in the nonprofit sector.
International Rescue Committee
I currently work at the International Rescue Committee. As the Operations Officer, I provide project management support and coordination to cross-functional projects that support the field to enhance operations and compliance. I work across departments to leverage knowledge, support good processes, and identify and make business improvements for a more efficient and effective operating environment. My role supports the Director of Internal Controls with high quality communications and data analysis that enhance the visibility of issues in coherent ways.
Young Storytellers
I worked at Young Storytellers as the Operations and Partners Strategist. When I was not running around Los Angeles to different studios seeking volunteers and donations, I spent time at the headquarters finding out how we could be even more efficient and streamlined. I found systems that made our programs more organized, whether that’s by designing Excel sheets, integrating our database in new ways, or leading meetings to plan for potential pitfalls. Operations and corporate partner strategizing is what I love!
Planned Parenthood
Other than Judge Kavanaugh being appointed to the Supreme Court, Summer 2018 was pretty incredible. Why? Because I moved to DC for three months and worked for Planned Parenthood! Every day was so exhilarating because we were really on the frontline of reproductive rights. We could be sent to a protest in the morning, have a meeting to talk strategy about a new corporate partnership in the afternoon, and close out the day with data entry on who our corporate partners are. This is where I got the most experience in corporate partnerships with nonprofits.
Here I am marching in the Pride Parade representing Planned Parenthood!
I was really an incredible experience leading the Planned Parenthood group for the Pride Parade. People on the streets would go NUTS when they saw our sign! They were yelling out their gratitude for the organization and coming out to the street to give us hugs. I am so lucky I was able to represent Planned Parenthood at this momentous event.
Omaze
Omaze was one of those long time love interests that I had applied to many times, hoping they would take a chance on a girl like me. And… they DID! Finally! After our long courtship, I joined their dog-filled, open office space eager to learn about this social venture. This experience taught me about the importance of attention to detail and designing to the eye. I designed recap decks that summarized each campaign ran by Omaze, using Keynote to design presentations then given by the Partnerships Lead. I collaborated with copy, design, and other teams to collect messaging and imagery reflective of the winner experience and non-profit mission. I am so grateful for the opportunity to have worked for a business I admired for so long!
Yoobi
A creative marketing internship for a company whose mission is to put school supplies into the hands of students in Los Angeles. I brainstormed marketing initiatives to increase our brand recognition and build relationships with customers. Throughout the entire internship experience, I built out a marketing plan that would introduce inclusive marketing by spotlighting students with disabilities being able to use our supplies. I loved being able to spread my creative wings!
Special Olympics Southern California
This was another experience where I got to connect my passion for disability rights with my skills for event planning. One of my biggest projects was to plan Olympic Village for Spring Regional Games, which hosts over 700 athletes with intellectual disabilities in the Los Angeles and San Gabriel Region. I reached out to local organizations and companies requesting sponsorships for this event. I assisted in the procurement of in-kind donations, sponsorships, and other budget alleviating initiatives, while also identifying potential corporate partners.
Special Olympics World Games Development Intern
A LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE. Connecting my passion for disability rights to my expertise in event planning, seeing the entire World Games come to life was a truly life changing experience (not to mention I got to meet Michael Phelps). Our team's goal was to fundraise $1 million for the Support An Athlete Program; a program that covered all costs for athletes to participate in the World Games. I implemented large scale events at schools such as USC and UCLA to help fundraise towards this goal. We designed excel spreadsheets and databases for over 7,000 athletes to ensure all demographic and fundraising information was correct.
